These garveys are useful boats—seagoing pickup trucks, really. They can carry a lot of people and gear, and you can bring ‘em right up on the beach for an island picnic.

Built 2007 by Monroe Boat Shop. 15′ 9″ x 5′ 3.″ A nice v-bottom garvey type. Draws 6″ with motor tilted; great for beach landings and shallow water cruising. Built with 5/4″ African mahogany bow and stern transoms. 2″x 3″ African mahogany keel and forefoot. White oak chines; 1/2″ Okoume marine plywood sides and bottom; sawn floor timbers on 12″ centers. All parts of hull and thwarts are bedded in epoxy or 3M 5200 and fastened with stainless screws and bolts. Dynel fabric and epoxy coatings on outside hull. Folding seatbacks on center thwart. Bronze cleats aft and ‘midship; galvanized cleats at bow—all bolted. 1/4″ plywood sole with removable center section. Includes a very nice low hour 1995 Johnson Tracker 20-hp outboard.with 6 gallon tank. Coast Guard certified for six people or 866 lbs. I took the boat to the 2021 WoodenBoat Show at Mystic. Always flushed and rinsed after saltwater use and kept under cover when not in the water. $4,000.
