I haven’t seen Bill pull wires out of the chine joints. He filleted and glassed over the wires on the inside and didn’t pull the wires out from the outside of the hull. It looks like the wires got glued into the fillets..There were no epoxy tabs made in the chine joints to pull the wires like were made between sheer and bilge panels, where wires were pulled before taping. Does he ever mention how he deals with the wire stitches?

Hey Joseph. He does explain somewhere in the videos that he snips off ad leave remnants of the wires in (epoxy/fillets over them) in some places because they are copper and won’t corrode buried within the epoxy.

I love this series of videos! I built one of Bill Thomas’ Willow kayaks last year. The plans and instructions were great, but these videos are awesome. I am learning a whole bunch of great little tips, which will be put to use when I build my next boat. Thanks, Bill!

Thanks for your feedback Don. We’re psyched about this series on several levels… one of which is just watching Bill’s style of working in his shop. How he stores his tools, etc., so he just turns and reaches most of the time and there it is, right where he left it. The thing y’all miss in this series are the wonderful meals that Jane Ahlfeld cooked for us after the day’s work. Someday, with a little luck, we’re going to get Jane out of the water and in a few videos. She’s a master too.
