Great video. Where do you get you mixing cup, what size are they?
John Homer says:
Can wood dust be used rather than the 406? Would it be strcturly as good?
Weaver Lilley says:
Great series! Russell really knows his medium. Problem is it’s now aparent to me all the mistakes I’ve made on the boats I’ve epoxied. Better make another boat and atone.
John Fergus says:
Had the same thought myself.
David Heal says:
I am always tempted (and usually succumb) to using my moistened finger to pat-down and smooth swooshes and various other deviations — typically after the epoxy has firmed-up a bit. Usually, it works out OK, but sometimes not so good. Do you smooth things out with your finger? Any hints in this regard?
Nate Rooks says:
As seen in the video, Russell sometimes smooths out edges, but I don’t believe he goes near the swooses with a finger. The risk of pulling the rest of the fillet into a low spot is too high. He told me he would rather let the rest be good and uniform and sand the swoose down.
Robert Kelleher says:
In my experience the glove material grabs at the epoxy and just makes things worse. As mentioned in the video, never touch uncured epoxy with your bare hands. It is very toxic.
