OffCenterHarbor.com asked our guides to share their favorite books that should be in every boater’s library…
NOTE: OffCenterHarbor.com asked the Guides to suggest “Three Books That Should Be In Every Boater’s (or Boatbuilder’s) Library.” Here are Ginny Jones’s recommendations:
The Last Grain Race by Eric Newby
This book has been published by various presses and is currently available in paperback at www.amazon.co.uk. You may have to do a little sleuthing to find it cheap, but it’s around, even if used. Eric Newby sailed on the four-masted barque MOSHULU and his book is a truly great read. After this voyage, Newby went on to become one of the best of ravel writers. This is the perfect book to give a young sailor (about 16), as it’s also a very funny book.
